Version 1
Colter plays this song in Drop D, however, if you Capo 2 on all strings except low E you can play it in
standard tuning. This also raises the key and may make it easier to sing.

During the first lines of each Verse, Colter plays a little riff on the D that I believe goes something
like this. On the second line of each Verse, the low D note is not played and instead change to A.

[D Riff]

e |----------3-----3-----3----|

A |--0h2--------0-------------|
D |-------------------0-------|

[Verse 1]
D
Have you met my friend Henry?
D A
Have you met my friend Sam?
D G
One's long and lean, one's short and mean
D A D
Known quite well throughout this land

[Verse 2]
D
Have you heard my friend Henry?
D A
Have you heard my friend Sam?
D G
One's low and barks, one's quick and sharp
D A D
Known quite well throughout this land

[Verse 3]
D
I'd be dead if not for Henry
D A
I'd be dead if not for Sam
D G
They've spoke with those who've stood opposed
D A D
To the way I deal, the way I am

[Verse 4]
D
Grown to dislike my friend Henry
D A
Grown to despisе my friend Sam
D G
Too many times I've lost my mind
D A D
Fеlt them in my trembling hands
